Hitachi Drive Fitness Test (DFT) crea un disco DOS avviabile, da cui poi verrà eseguito. Drive Fitness Test fornisce un metodo veloce ed affidabile per testare hard disk SCSI e IDE, compresi i Serial-ATA. DFT effettua test di lettura senza sovrascrivere alcuna informazione, e fornisce anche alcune utilità di ripristino (Cancellazione del boot-sector, Formattazione di basso livello).
