Double Commander 0.5.8 Beta

Double Commander è un filemanager Open Source multipiattaforma (Windows, Linux e Mac OS X) con interfaccia a due pannelli affiancati sullo stile di Total Commander, a sua volta ispirato a Directory Opus. Tra i punti di forza del software troviamo: velocità, possibilità di personalizzazione dell'interfaccia, un client FTP, supporto unicode, colonne personalizzate, funzione di ricerca avanzata con la ricerca full text in qualsiasi file, visualizza file nel formato esadecimale, binario o semplice testo, editor di testo interno; tutte le operazioni di lavoro in background, gestisce archivi come sottodirectory (ZIP, TAR GZ, TGZ, LZMA, BZ2, RPM, CPIO, DEB, RAR) e supporta i Plug-In WCX, WDX e WLX di Total Commander.

Intervista a Christian Ghisler, creatore di Total Commander Ex Amighista e utilizzatore di Amiga 500 e Directory Opus da cui si è ispirato per creare "Total Commander", Norton Commander lasciamo stare, se possiamo chiamarlo un filemanager grafico e nato nel 1986, e anche lui si è ispirato alle decine di Filemanager "già multimediali" e graficamente più avanzati nati su AMiGA nel 1985.

On my computer, I have some applications I use every day. One of these applications is Total Commander (formerly known as Windows Commander). When I switched from my trusty Amiga 500 and Directory Opus for about 15 years ago, I first used Norton Commander for DOS (since this was before I started using Windows). I then went on to Windows and found the file manager I use today – Total Commander.

Yes, I had bought the program DOS Command Center (DCC), a German shareware for DOS which at the time could already do much more than the original Norton Commander. I wrote Total Commander (then called Windows Commander) initially for myself because I found nothing comparable for Windows.

Sì, avevo comprato il programma DOS Command Center (DCC), uno shareware tedesco per DOS che in quel momento poteva fare molto di più dell'originale Norton Commander.
